Important Notes - IN CASE OF DAMAGING EVENT

In case of damages, please send the original invoice together with the following details to HanseMerkur Insurance:

  • Policy number
  • Account for receipt of payment.

In case of outpatient or inpatient treatment please ensure that the invoice issued by the doctor/hospital contains the follwing details:

  • Name of the patient
  • Name of illness
  • Length of treatment
  • Treatment administered by the doctor/the hospital
  • Foreign curreny used
  • Account details for doctor/hospital

In case of accident, you must consult a doctor immediately. If the accident results in death, the insurer must be notified of this within 48 hours, even if the accident has already been reported. The notification must be of a telegraphic nature. The insurer has the right to appoint a doctor to examine the corpse and perform an autopsy.

In case of liability damages in emergencies, e.g. inpatient hospital treatment or where the journey home is required, do not ever admit guilt to the damaged party.

In cases of emergency e.g. admission to hospital for inpatient treatment, please contact: the Emergency Service when Travelling on tel.no. (0180) 5 256 (0,12 EUR per minute) and from abroad: international code for Germany + (180) 5 256 256.

Assistance will be provided from there and, if necessary, we will state that we will meet the costs for treatment. Invoices will be settled directly with the party administering treatment/the hospital.

If necessary, the doctor acting for the emergency service will liase directly with the doctor administering treatment.
